Mar 7th, Tuesday 7pm, Monthly club meeting at Maita Chevrolet in Elk Grove.
March 26th, Club Event - Cruise to Western Railway Museum. Our club event for March will take us on a cruise down the river road to Hwy 12 at Rio Vista. From there we will continue west to the Western Railway Museum where we will have a picnic and enjoy the scenery.
We’ll meet at the Home Depot parking lot – 1461 Meadowview Rd (this is a little east of the Pocket Rd exit off I-5) at 9am. Departure time will be 9:30am and the cruise will head down the scenic Delta Route 160 to Rio Vista. There will be a stop at the Rio Vista McDonald’s/Chevron on Highway 12 just across the Rio Vista bridge. Then continue on to the Western Railway Museum. Total one way mileage is 55 miles.
The Western Railway Museum gives visitors the opportunity to ride historic streetcars and inter-urban electric trains from all over California and other western states. Streetcars loop the shaded picnic grounds. Inter-urban cars run over the restored main line of the old Sacramento Northern Railway. There are over 50 historic cars on display, railway exhibits, a Museum Store and Gift Shop and large, shaded picnic grounds.. Admission is $10 adults, $9 seniors (over 65), $7 children (2-14).
Volunteers operate authentic, restored trains every day it is open. Your admission ticket to the Museum is good all day, and you can ride as often as you wish.
Presently the Museum offers 15-minute, mile long streetcar rides around the grounds, and a 50-minute inter-urban ride over the re-electrified portion of the former SN inter-urban mainline to Gum Grove.
There is a Depot Cafe which offers hot dogs, ice cream, hot and cold beverages, and other snack items or you can bring your own picnic lunch. Check it out at www.wrm.org
Mar 25-26: Goodguys Get together in Pleasanton. Open to all years, swapmeet, car show and car corral.
