Well we took the
drive today down HWY. 49. It was a lot of fun and
thankfully mechanically uneventful. :) Shane rode
CO-pilot with me and we drove up to Penryn with
Hugger in his Z. (Man that car looks and sounds
great going down the road!) We met up with Terry and
Cindy MacDonald who came in their creature comfort
equipped Prelude! New members Wayne and Claudia came
in their very sweet 68 that still sports the
original hub caps. Bill and Linda Hahn of Camaros
Ltd, Nor-Cal rode over with Victor in his 4th gen
convertible Z28. Bill jumped in X77D80 and off we
went enjoying the curves until Coloma State Park
where we made good use of the beautiful weather and
shade. Dennis (Cam)Aros met us there in his 69 Pace
Car, that none of us even knew he had! We hung
around a few minutes longer and then decided to
ditch the itinerary in favor of stopping by Dennis'
to drop off his family and of course to check out
his pad and all of his stuff! I parked at the bottom
of his slightly uneven gravel driveway only to be
surprised with quite a hike to the top. Shane and I
caught a ride back down in the convertible pacer.
Many thanks to the Aros' for their hospitality.
After this break we were back on our way and it
seemed like no time at all until we were in Jackson.
There just happened to be a car show going on so we
parked and each ended up checking it out. What a
bonus to find some beautiful cars to ogle at the end
of such a magnificent drive. A big thanks to Ed
Ernst who drove this route twice to put together
that very well organized itinerary. It was a big
help Ed. Thanks also to everyone who was able to
make it out. Hopefully we can coax a few more
members out next time for an opportunity to drive
our cars and have fun with them. The very embodiment
of our club philosophy. Until then we'll see ya at
the next meeting in Roseville on June 4th. Happy
cruising ~ MP
