Jeannette was in 8th grade in 1969 when the Camaro bug bit her hard! She
went on a field trip in a new 1969 Camaro and just fell in love
with it. She told all the girls this was the coolest car she had
ever been in and someday, she would get one for herself. "Someday"
showed up when Jeannette was age 22. After a three year search,
her dream came true when she found the 69 Camaro you see here.
Jeannette purchased the car from the original owner, who cried like a
baby as she drove off. According to Jeannette, she loves her car
so much, she rarely drives it! (However, we at Camaro Generations will
do our best to see she drives it much more now!).
Another interesting fact about Jeannette's Camaro which she did not even
realize until after she had owned the car for 23 years and contacted
Camaro Generations was that she owns an actual Z10 "Pace Car Hardtop".
According to
CRG and
The 1969 Camaro Reference Book
John R. Hooper
J&D Publications
"...The basic Z10 package included Rally
Sport and Super Sport equipment, code 50-50 paint, cowl induction hood,
and 396 or 350 cu in engine. Most of the Z10 cars are equipped
with factory air conditioning. Any option available for the Z11 is
believed to be available with the Z10. However, different interior
options were available such as 711 Black STD, 712 Black Custom, 713
Black Houndstooth, 727 Ivory STD, and 729 Ivory Houndstooth. It is
rumored that 720 Orange Houndstooth could also be ordered.
It is believed there were only 200-300
Z10 coupes produced at the Norwood plant in 1969. In comparison,
there were 3,675 Indy Pace Car Convertibles produced during the same
period. It is believed the Z10 was to be a regional
promotional item for certain southwestern and mid-western states.
The Z10 was similarly equipped to the '69 Z11 Pace Car replica, but was
a hardtop instead of convertible. All known Z10 cars have a Z10
code on the cowl tag."
